Leadership and Service
Nurturing a Life Beyond Oneself
At Providence, we place great importance on fostering a lifestyle of unselfish service.
We believe students, no matter what age, can use their God-given talents and gifts to serve others. Our ultimate aim is to exalt Jesus and draw all individuals closer to Him, whether in the school, church, community, or international settings.
Providence provides your student with multiple opportunities to lead and serve at school from elementary to high school.
Student Leading Students
At Providence, we value allowing students to be servant leaders to their classmates and learning the responsibilities and fulfillment of leadership. In our high school, students who like to be out front can lead weekly worship in the Axis band or boost school spirit by heading up activities on the Student Council. Those who prefer to be behind the scenes can help with Axis production or Encounter retreat planning teams, making these memorable experiences for their classmates. Leading a club, sports team, thespian group, drumline, and more provides ample opportunities to learn and grow in leadership.
Leading in Lower Grades
Leadership isn't just for just for older kids! Elementary students have opportunities to model it and see how God can use their gifts to influence others. The weekly chapel features students serving as emcees and helping with worship. In the classroom, students help younger readers by serving as reading buddies or sharing with lower grades what they've learned in Bible class. Others lead the recycling team, encourage school spirit, or help with service projects.
Serving Local Ministries
Students across all grades participate in school-sponsored service projects and choose off-campus opportunities to serve throughout the year. By volunteering in churches, ministries, local co-ops, nearby schools, and more, students showcase compassion, hone leadership abilities, gain insights into needs beyond their own, and contribute to serving God's kingdom.
Creatively Giving Back
Providence's annual Giving Market features artisans and vendors whose products support refugees and others locally and worldwide. This market that has raised more than $250,000 for ministries gives families a place to purchase unique gifts with purpose. At the same time, students see how creativity and entrepreneurship can combine to share Christ's love with others.
Welcoming Prospective Families
Students on the Storm Recruitment Team (SRT) welcome prospective families, provide campus tours, assist new school families, and create a friendly and inviting atmosphere. As they serve, these students learn valuable lessons in professionalism, communication, and representation.
Serving After Graduation
Equipped to lead and serve, Providence graduates go on to play college sports, lead college ministries, enlist in service academies, and take on other influential positions in college and beyond.
