Honoring the Memory of Our Director of Encouragement, Mr. Lamar Lussi
The Providence Christian Academy family is mourning the loss of one of the most beloved figures in our school history, Mr. Lamar Lussi.
Mr. Lussi has been cherished by students, parents, alumni and staff at Providence Christian Academy since the school opened its doors in 1991. Though advancing age prevented him from being a consistent presence around campus over these past few years, he will always be known for reaching individuals of all ages with his deep faith in Christ, consistently providing support and encouragement.
Whether in the capacity of mentor, cheerleader, consoler, or companion, Mr. Lussi left a lasting legacy on successive generations within the Providence community. It was fitting that he was named Director of Encouragement - a title he fulfilled well. We will never know the full extent of his influence through countless notes, birthday calls to alumni, visits to the sick at the hospital, prayers over newborns and newlyweds, cheering on our teams, waving in the carpool line, and so much more.
He was an ambassador for Providence, representing us wherever he went. More importantly, he was an ambassador for the Kingdom of God sharing Jesus not only within our school, but with community leaders, law enforcement, and anyone he’d meet.
Mr. Lussi's steadfast commitment to fostering a supportive environment has played an instrumental role in shaping the very essence of our school.
Mr. Lussi’s trademark saying was, “I am blessed.” That was true. He was a blessed man who was loved by his family, church, school, and community. And we were blessed to know him and witness his example.
To honor Mr. Lussi, and in lieu of flowers, his family has requested gifts be donated to the Lussi Legacy Fund (lussilegacyfund.org), which will provide financial assistance for students to attend Providence.
Just as Mr. Lussi stood in prayer for our covenant community, we ask that you join us in prayer for the Lussi family during this time.
