STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

Our STEM Pathway equips high school students with creativity, resilience, and authentic problem-solving experience. Graduates who complete all four courses earn the designation of STEM Scholar.

STEM I

Students learn the engineering design process through hands-on mini-units and structured challenges. They practice brainstorming, prototyping, testing, and analyzing results, building confidence and independence as creative problem-solvers.

STEM II

Students apply engineering principles as they design, build, and program their own robots. Through the “Robot Olympics,” they test drivetrains, mechanisms, and code while developing collaboration, iteration skills, and purposeful engineering habits.

STEM III

Students tackle large-scale, real-world problems through research, modeling, and system analysis. They participate in the international Future City competition and design innovative engineering solutions that improve communities.

STEM IV

Students create independent capstone projects that reflect their interests and skills. Recent projects have explored VR art, accessibility design, and cybersecurity, demonstrating advanced creativity and real-world engineering applications.

Our Computer Science program challenges high school students through hands-on projects. Using modern programming tools, students build websites, design games, and explore software development in a creative and supportive environment.

Since launching in Fall 2025, eSports has become Providence’s most accessible competitive team—no expensive equipment, no long after-school commitments, just teamwork and exciting gameplay. Students compete in games like Mario Kart, Madden, and League of Legends while building strategy, communication, and confidence.

In middle school, STEM electives provide a broad introduction to engineering and technology concepts for our students. Classes emphasize teamwork, structured problem solving, and effective data analysis. Students are also encouraged to explore their natural curiosity as they study a variety of STEM fields. Students apply knowledge and skills in hands-on challenges that prepare them for high school STEM coursework. 

Our elementary STEM program introduces students to foundational engineering and problem-solving skills in engaging, age-appropriate ways. Through hands-on activities, students explore how things work, practice critical thinking, and learn to collaborate with others. These early experiences help students develop confidence, creativity, and a willingness to experiment and take risks—skills that will serve them throughout their academic journey.
