KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 4TH GRADE

Our elementary school is where students receive a grounding in academics and an introduction to God and His Word.

Elementary School Life

Academics

Bible curriculum highlights the Old and New Testaments, including the creation through the promised land, and the gospels through Acts and the early church.
Reading curriculum provides a robust approach to phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, and fluency. By 3rd and 4th grade, students expand to word study, vocabulary, gathering and verifying information, and understanding esential parts of literature.
In language arts, students begin with learning handwriting, grammar, spelling, and composition. Later, they expand to both cursive and manuscript handwriting skills, spelling rules, and dictation skills.
Math focuses on number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, basic geometry, and number sense. Counting, time, money, data collection, sensible prediction, creating and adding to patterns, along with addition and subtraction, create a strong understanding of math concepts. Students progress to learn beginning decimals, basic fractions, graphing, and multiplication and division facts to 12. And further expand to percentages, algebraic rules, and complex number sense.
In social studies and science, 3rd and 4th grade students begin learning history and civics, while science includes body systems, the solar system, and STEM.
For STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), students use iPads to enhance classroom instruction. IN addition, students participate in weekly STEM sessions in teh STEM lab and th escience curriculum is supported and enhanced by STEM.
Cultural Studies is introduced with weekly classes that highlight conversational skills and a cultural awareness.

Specials and Extracurriculars

Students regularly participate in Music, Art, Library, and Physical Education, and students enjoy recess daily.
Multiple field trips are taken each year. The number of field trips depends on the grade level. Kindergarten averages eight per year, while 4th grade averages five. Destinations include the Atlanta Symphony, Fernbank Science Center, Georgia State Capitol, and Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Special event performances include chapel performances and holiday celebrations.
Second through 4th grade students may audition for the Storm Theatre drama production.
Students may enroll in the Added Experience Program, which offers a variety of after-school options such as Lego Club, Jr. Chef, art, chess, painting, and more.

Worship and Service

Students worship weekly in a chapel service designed with the understanding that elementary students can engage in meaningful worship and understand truthful teaching, even in the youngest grades.
All students participate in service projects including food drives for local ministries, Operation Christmas Child, and more.
In upper elementary grades, students have the opportunity to lead and serve on the chapel worship teams and other school-wide events highlighting school spirit and service.

Elementary teachers and staff create personal connections with students focused on building trust and encouraging the spiritual, academic, and social growth of each child.

Students learn in classrooms that are interactive and stimulating, led by highly-trained faculty.

JESUS CENTERED LEARNING

Every day there is a focus on Jesus through classroom prayer, Bible teaching, regular worship times, and teachers who nurture spiritual growth.

FUN OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

Students experience fun and hands-on learning through field trips and extracurriculars.
