Encounter is an experience each high school student experiences each fall. These
events are held at off-campus sites in late September of each year. Sub freshmen
and freshmen have two-night experiences at separate facilities, while
sophomores, juniors, and seniors enjoy their “encounters” together. The purposes
of these times include building community in our school, growing in our own
God-encounters, and preparing for the challenges that await us during the school
year. The Senior Class spends five days at “Encounter” to help draw them to
being firmly rooted and grounded in their faith, and the sophomores and juniors
arrive on the third day. These days have proven to be some of the most
significant in helping new students acclimate to Providence, while serving as a
vibrant point of renewal and strengthening for our returning students as well.
Guest speakers and musicians accompany us at each “Encounter” location.
(Expenses for these days are included in the tuition.) The Encounter for the
upperclassmen is designed by a team of students who begin preparing nine months
prior to the event. The Encounter Team is composed of seven seniors along with
two juniors and two sophomores.
