Admiring the faith of young people willing to enter a new, untested Christian
school for their crucial senior year, the first Board of Directors entrusted
the class of 1992 with naming the school. Those twelve students wisely chose an
expressive identity. Our name is Providence Christian Academy. A bold
proclamation of conviction. A confident claim of God’s favor.
Ever since the opening of the school on Sept. 6, 1991, with 354 students in
grades K-12, members of the Providence family expected the hand of God to be at
work in our midst.
From our modest beginning of leasing just two thirds of a shopping plaza, our
one-building facility has developed into a campus encompassing nearly 200,000
square feet of indoor space on 24 acres, and an enrollment of nearly 800
students. Our innovative use of space includes separate facilities for High
School, Elementary, Gymnasiums, and Athletic Fields. For a complete list of our
facilities please click here.
In fifteen years, Providence has achieved much more than growth in size and
number. From earning accreditation in just three years of the school’s opening
by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, to our current candidate status and dual accreditation
with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Council on Accreditation and School Improvement
(SACS/CASI) and the Association of Christian School International (ACSI),
Providence continues to strive toward providing Christian families with excellence in
education.
More over, students at Providence have earned over 10 state championships for
achievements from athletics to science, and numerous fine art accolades from
All-State Chorus, Orchestra, and Art, to “Best in Cast” and other individual
drama awards.
Finally, the school has maintained the vision of its founders. High standards
of academic achievement and spiritual growth, opportunities for personal growth
through athletics and fine art programs, in addition to moral development
through Christian education and community service – all continue to be
hallmarks of Providence Christian Academy.
